The Fine Print:

  • Region: All films must be made by youth residing within the five boroughs of New York City
  • Age of youth producer(s): 20 or younger and a high school student at the completion date of the film
  • Length of submission: 12 minutes or less
  • Submission format: DVD
  • Completion date: Films must have been completed after January 1,2008.
  • Previously submitted films: TFI will not consider previously submitted films.
  • Multiple entries: Multiple entries may be submitted. If multiple entries are submitted, each film should be submitted separately.
  • Youth Made: To be eligible for TFI’s Youth Media screening, youth under the age of 20 must be responsible for the majority of the work submitted. All submissions should have young filmmakers serving in the major creative roles on the production of submitted films — as directors, writers, cinematographers or editors. Any films that reflect more than 50% of creative control by filmmakers over the age of 20 will not be considered for this screening and preference is given to films that are overwhelmingly youth made.
