Our City, My Story, the Tribeca Film Institute’s annual celebration of the excellence and diversity within New York City youth media, gives student-made work an audience during the Tribeca Film Festival.
By sharing this tremendous work with new audiences, Our City, My Story heralds the excellence, vision and hard work of young filmmakers and celebrates the organizations and individuals who support these talented artists.
THE PROGRAM:
As part of Tribeca Film Institute’s ongoing work to bring together young filmmakers and the NYC youth media community, TFI annually produces the youth shorts program Our City, My Story during the Tribeca Film Festival. Presenting short work created by New York City teens, Our City, My Story provides a platform for student work to be seen and applauded.
Each year, students from all corners of the City simultaneously submit their work to both Our City, My Story and the Tribeca Film Festival. The result is a committee-curated program of youth shorts and a number of students who have obtained their first experience submitting work to a major film festival.
Screening annually at a major Festival venue, Our City, My Story has presented short films created by organizations including work from DCTV Pro-TV, Ghetto Film School, Global Action Project, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, Scenarios USA, the Summer Arts Institute Filmmaking Workshop, Working Playground and independent youth producers.
