2009 Tribeca Film Fellows

I attend Fiorello H Laguardia High School. I love painting, anatomy drawing, illustration, photography, filmmaking, and hold a deep respect and interest for any medium that is made with the purpose of portraying something deeper. Free time often involves hanging out and ping pong.

I attend Francis Lewis High School. I am a first generation American. I think it is extremely important to stick to my roots while learning and growing as a person, and not succumbing to mainstream culture and media, which are all huge motivations for my artistic endeavors.

I was raised in Sunset Park and I am a Junior at Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School. My background is Dominican and Costa Rican; I’m proud of my heritage. Film has always been my life; I’ve been doing it from an early age and don’t expect to stop.

I attend the Academy for Careers in Television and Film. I got involved in filming by my brother, who was also interested in filmmaking. I would like to be a director because I think it’s pretty cool making a script come to life.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, which will always be my home. I attend Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School located in Bedford Stuyvesant. My first documentary, “A Message to Marlene” was a tribute to my mother.

I attend Year Up. Someone recently asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I told them everything! I can’t do everything, but I can try doing it through film. I aspire to be a Producer/Director.

I am of Haitian descent and this plays a large role in my life. I can be wild and crazy yet serious and understanding. One of my dreams is meeting an individual from every country of the world.

My name is Derek Garcia, I live in Brooklyn. I have made films for Brooklyn Cable Access Television, this is something I definitely want to do for the rest of my life. I am always thinking of how to shoot a situation and find film in everything I do.

I attend the Aviation High School. As a filmmaker I am geared towards pieces on Muslim and Islamic rights. I always find myself in situations where the odds are against me, but I’ve learnt that in such situation the odds are in my favor.

I came to America when I was one from Uzbekistan. I go to the Baccalaureate School for Global Education, a tiny school in Astoria. I draw, paint, and make movies and I’m hoping that if I keep doing it, I’ll find out why.

I go to the New Explorer High School. I love the prospect of screenwriting and creating your own world. I would like people to be honest with me, in order for me to do my best work. I am simply and madly in love with film and hope to be part of the magic of filmmaking.

I attend the Borough of Manhattan Community College. I would describe myself as motivated, driven, easy-going, versatile and eager to learn new things.

I go to the Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School. I’m an artist who loves to write and express myself. I love a good book and enjoy time with my close family. My wildest dream is to travel the world and be happy.

My dream is to become a cinematographer. I love photography, skateboarding and new experiences. I wish to go to college for film.

I go to the Manhattan Free School. I’m an atheist, a feminist, a cynic, and generally a nice person. I’m interested in psychology, philosophy, and linguistics. I love photography and the possibilities of film.

I attend The Beacon School and have been making movies since I was ten. In a movie, what I strive to do most is make something interesting either visually, through sound, editing techniques, or other elements.

I am a student at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers. I plan on studying film in college. I am a quiet observer and express what I see through writing, which led to my great interest in screenwriting.

I am a senior at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, majoring in Film and Media. Whether I am watching, studying or creating it, film has been the motivating force in my life. I see myself as an independent filmmaker.

I go to Baruch College Campus High School. Filmmaking is my passion. Ever since I was a child, the art of film has intrigued me. I feel that movies can change the way we see the world.

I go to the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics. I am a pillar of determination, hope, education, questions, truths, opinions, and ideas. I want to live and learn as much as I can, because an artist can see beauty in any picture.
