Mandela Day Tribeca All Access Award

Partnership Overview

46664 and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, together with Tribeca Film Institute’s Tribeca All Access(TAA) program invite TAA alumni to submit original short film concepts to compete for the first annual Mandela Day Tribeca All Access Award.  The award will include a $10,000 grant from 46664 towards the completion of the short film and special presentation of the films during the Tribeca Film Festival and future planned ventures.  A total of five alumni will be awarded the Mandela Day Tribeca All Access Award.

The opportunity will:

  • Offer filmmakers a chance to be supported in their efforts to make a short film for a good cause.
  • Encourage filmmakers to bring Nelson Mandela’s values to life in cinematic form, helping people to recognize their individual power to ‘Make an Imprint’ and change the world around them.
  • Provide filmmakers with a platform to inspire people from every corner of the earth to embrace Nelson Mandela’s values – fighting injustice, helping people in need and practicing reconciliation.

Mandela Day Events in New York City

Mandela Day is an annual celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and a global call to action for people to recognize their individual power to make an imprint and change the world around them.  Mandela Day will be celebrated with creative activities in different cities each year that engage and inspire people to make an imprint.  This July in New York City, on the occasion of Nelson Mandela’s birthday, a global celebration of his life and legacy will be launched.  There will be a public exhibition opening the first week of July and a gala fundraising event on July 15, followed by a concert at Madison Square Garden on July 18, Nelson Mandela’s birthday.
