In The Prep School Negro, director André Robert Lee takes a journey back in time to his adolescence, and spends time with current prep school students of color and their classmates to see how much has changed inside the “ivory tower.” He discovers the poignant and unapologetic truth about the consequences of yesterday’s accelerated desegregation and today’s racial naïveté.
The screening will be followed by a discussion featuring Lee and Stephen Hill, Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming at BET, moderated by radio personality Malikha Mallette.
While developing The Prep School Negro, Lee participated in the 2006 Tribeca All Access program.
