Herb and Dorothy Wins Audience Award at 2008 Silverdocs

Tribeca All Access congratulates director Megumi Sasaki for winning the Audience Award for a Feature at this year’s SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival for her documentary Herb & Dorothy. SILVERDOCS announced its distinguished award winners, culminating the weeklong Festival activities that included screening 108 films representing 63 countries, in which Herb & Dorothy was world premiered in front of a full house that included art collectors Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, the subjects of the film.

The film chronicles the life and art collection of Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, whose shared passion and discipline on a postman and librarian's salary redefined what it means to be a patron of the arts and culminated in the donation of a multi-million dollar collection to the National Gallery of Art. Director Megumi Sasaki participated in the 2006 Tribeca All Access program and came back to this year’s program to give a sneak peek as part of the TAA On Track Presentation Screenings at the Tribeca Film Festival.
